Story
2021 has again been a year that for many of us could of been a lot better, although there has been great times as in Domestic Abuse Survivors became one of the Hillingdon Mayoral charities for 2021/22 and wow that has just been an amazing achievement!
We have decided to start our appeal early to allow us enough time to get everything just perfect for the young people we help to support.
Last year Domestic Abuse Survivor's with the communities help donated 1700 gifts to Vulnerable families.
Having worked with many families that have fled Domestic abuse the founder of the charity Vicki Wheaton decided to really invest in the young people aged 16-24 who have found themselves homeless and living in supported accommodation. As a huge amount of these young people have in their early years have experienced a form of Domestic Abuse, weather this may be emotional, physical, sexual or coercion. This then can lots of times lead onto a path of self destruction and a struggle to understand how and why they found themselves living in a residential care home. The charity in May 2021 launched a project called 'All about you' this project entails independent outreach work to give these young people a safe space and help to teach them more life skills before they move into independent living accommodation and start their journey in adulthood. But most of all it show's them people care about how they feel and want to invest in them for their futures.
Many of these Young people don't have families involved in their lives, so Christmas can be a heartbreaking time as many others around them spend it in loving households. So Domestic Abuse Survivor's have expanded there project and we need your help! We would like to gift everyone of these young people a special gift this Christmas along with all the trimmings! Not only does that create inclusion it also create's a special memory. We want everyone to hold a special memory from Christmas 2021 and these Young people truly deserve to feel that special warm feeling on Christmas day when they open something on their wish list that has been lovingly wrapped.
These young people all year round face struggles with emotions, seeking guidance and the issue of a very small amount of money to live on. More than ever after the pandemic and extra mental health issues faced this year, we need to make a real difference and bring some extra cheer to them on this special day.
Every single pound donated really does add up and makes a huge difference, In advance thank you for your support.
Best Wishes always,
Vicki Wheaton
