On Saturday 18th May, Bookmark and its supporters will tackle five of England's toughest peaks, including its highest - Scafell Pike. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Lake District National Park, this journey will see challengers crossing crags and moorland as they ascend over 3,000 feet, covering more than 14 miles in a single day. This is no walk in the park!

Bookmark Reading is a literacy charity with a mission to create flexible volunteering at the heart of our communities, to help children to develop the reading skills they need to succeed in school and beyond.

It is a shocking statistic that even today, over 200,000 children in England leave primary school every year unable to read to the expected standard - that is more than 1 in 4 children. These children often struggle for the rest of their lives. Poor literacy can lead to limited job prospects, poor health, low self-esteem, and reduced life expectancy.
