We help people with Osteogenesis Imperfecta to be independent and feel less isolated

Story

Well, I did it!

What a day, far too hot for running a half marathon with hills! I struggled to get going because of the crowds at the start and then attempted to regain the lost ground by running hard up to the half way point, BIG mistake.

Although I went through the halfway point just over target time, the hard pace got to me around the 8/9 mile point and I slowed massively, feeling sick and over heating. I decided at that point that it was just going to be a case of making sure I finished, which I did in 1hr 52- well outside my PB but that's not important! The most important thing was to raise money for the Brittle Bones Society.

Thanks again to everyone who donated, we've now raised well over what I first imagined we'd be able to acheive and there's still money to come in!

Thanks for everyone who donated at the match today, it means a lot to me and my family.

Brittle Bones Society is a charity that not a lot of people have heard about but this charity means a lot to people like me as i suffer from brittle bones. The Grand Total of Money Collected at Todays Match was:£513

Thanks to Paul for running the Great North Run for me tommorrow and Good Luck! Also thanks to all my collectors Graham, Beverley, Sue, Nikki, Terri, Shannon, Alex and of course my mum and dad (Michelle and Ray).

David

Thank you for visiting our Fundraising page!

I am running this years Great north run in aid of The Brittle Bones Society and would love to raise a decent sum for this great charity.

David Helme is 13 and attends Carnforth High school. He has Osteogenesis Imperfecta also known as Brittle Bones, a rare and painful bone condition that runs in his family and which both his Uncle and Nanna Suffered from.

David and his Parents, Michelle and Ray have asked me to help them raise funds for The Brittle Bones Society by running the Great North 1/2 Marathon in aid of the charity on September 20th this year.

Like myself, David and his family are avid Morecambe Fc supporters and David has supported them since he was 6. David's cousin, Gary Hunter plays for the shrimps in the No8 shirt and the club have been very supportive of David and the charity with other fundraising events in the past and will hopefully be allowing us permission to do a bucket collection at a game in the forthcomming season.

The Brittle Bones Society offers specialist advice, support and equipment for sufferers, their families and carers, as with all charities, they rely entirely upon the public's generousity for their funding. The services they provide are invaluable to people like David and your donations will directly benefit the many people who rely on their services.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Brittle Bone Society gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
