06/07/11 - An update!
Thanks for all donations and support to date.
Since the bike ride I've launched 'Music Earth Rise' to help raise funds > although small events to date a bigger event is in the process of being organised - To find out more check in to www.musicearthrise.com
Having just returned from a trip to Zambia and visited Mukuni Village with my friend Valerie Buchanan, we were distressed to learn that almost half the children in the school are orphaned through the HIV/AIDS pandemic. As a volunteer for The Butterfly Tree I held a number of music workshops for these vulnerable children, teaching them to play the guitar, which I later donated to the school. Inspired by the work of the charity and the fantastic response from my pupils we are raising funds to build a Music Centre at Mukuni. Due to the high poverty levels there is very little for these young people to do outside the classroom. Providing these facilities will give them an opportunity to develop music skills, which will enable them to perform concerts to increase awareness and raise funds for the HIV/AIDS and malaria. It is also a chance to become self-sustaining.
Please donate - through music we can make a difference!
