Thank you for your time and interest! Boris Swam the Channel in 14 hours and 24 minutes!
He swam non-stop and was truly amazing. We all felt privileged to witness such an outstanding achievement first hand. The conditions were shocking for a while, with massive swell and high winds, but he just kept swimming.
Boris landed on Sangatte beach joined by Sophie (recent Channel Swimmer), Ante (Olympic Rower for Croatia and Stroked Oxford Blue boat this year), Michal (Polish International rower and Oxford rower this year) and Vanessa (!), who all swam ashore with him -200m The French lady on the beach thought we'd all done the whole thing, which was rather pleasing.
We have had a few philosophical discussions about the point of this challenge and I hope you will agree it is a good opportunity to raise money for a very worthy cause. The Willow Foundation is an amazing charity that provides very personalised special experiences for adults with life-threatening conditions.
To give you an idea of what they do: a Mum desperately wanted one more Christmas with her kids but it was Summer and she was dying. So Willow wrapped the presents, decorated the Christmas tree and covered the garden in man-made snow. Please look at their website for more details of the wonderful joy and happy memories they provide to so many families facing everyone's worst nightmare.
Please sponsor Boris now and give meaning to his madness!
Best wishes and many thanks,
Vanessa Impey and Boris Mavra
