Story
On 24th October I'll be running in the Birmingham Half Marathon to raise funds for Volunteer Reading Help, the literacy charity that provides valuable one-to-one support for children who struggle with their reading.
I volunteered with VRH in 2005-6, and saw just how inspiring and rewarding their work could be. Just an hour a week during school term-times can make such a huge impact on the life of an individual child, introducing them to the exciting world of books and adventures and helping them to become literate for life.
This year I've spoken at the House of Commons and the Birmingham offices of PriceWaterhouseCoopers in support of this amazing, important charity and I'm really excited to be running for them this Autumn.
Just £510 is enough to fund one volunteer helper working three hours per week for the 2010-2011 school year...but I'm sure that together we can top that!
