Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am cycling 33 miles to raise funds for a very good cause, the Bath Cat and Dogs Home.
Having a cat and dog of our own, we know how expensive it is to keep pets and the work they do at the home is fantastic, 365 days a year, taking care of animals who sadly are there for no fault of their own.
‘Betsy is a small Dogue de Bordeaux who was found dumped in a ditch before being bought to the Home by a local dog warden. Weighing in at just 33kg Betsy was not only extremely underweight, but was suffering from an allergic condition which made her skin raw, feet swollen and her ears inflamed; she couldn’t even open her eyes because they were sealed shut with conjunctivitis. In addition to her physical wounds Betsy was in a permanent cower, on her back feet, silent and showing no reaction – it was like she had given up on life.
As soon as she was at the Home they provided her with the urgent medical treatment needed to treat her wounds and then worked slowly with her to try and get her used to human contact; showing her that she was no longer in danger when in contact with people. It costs £75 for the Home to provide an abandoned dog like Betsy with a warm kennel, bed, blanket and food for their first and often most unsettling week with the Home. Please sponsor me to help me reach my £75 target. Thank you.
