Story
To celebrate our 10th anniversary this year Glasgow Triathlon Club completed a coast-to-coast Triathlon Challenge between Friday 26th and Sunday 28th June.
The “Big Long Chippy Run Triathlon” saw us swimming, cycling and running up to a total of 165 miles from Helensburgh in the West to the East coast village of Anstruther.
We started on Friday June 26th with an 8 mile group bike ride from Helensburgh to Balloch. From there, we swam in groups of two or three as a continuous relay the 21 mile length of Loch Lomond. It was cold and at times challenging, but we got through it in just under 12 hours!
On Saturday we cycled as either individuals or a relay travelling 96 miles from Ardlui to Kinross. On the Sunday, we covered the final 40 mile section on a combination of two wheels and two feet from Kinross to Anstruther -including a sprint finish to the chippy - PHEW!
It was tough in parts, but immense fun and a great achievement and to reflect this we'd like to raise as much as possible for:
- Loch Lomond Rescue Boat (LLRB)
- Erskine Hospital for ex-service men and women
- The Prince & Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow
All funds will be divided equally between the three.
Every penny really does count, so please donate whatever you can - we promise we earnt every single penny.
THANK YOU!
