Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Well, I did it. I ran my first (and last) marathon on Sunday 2nd October from along the banks of Loch Ness into Inverness. I say ran, but as predicted, it was a combination of running and walking. I finished in a time of 5:49:25, a whole 11 minutes inside my target time. Since I only started running last year, I think that's not bad for an old bird!
It was, however, a huge physical and mental challenge. There were many moments - pretty much the entire race from mile 18 onwards - when I felt like giving up. What kept me going was the thought of the donations from my wonderful generous friends and family, and the difference the cash I was raising would make for my chosen charity.
Epilepsy is a much misunderstood illness and not one of the 'sexy' ones that attracts a lot of funding or charitable donations. My family are affected by epilepsy and I'd like to make life easier for them and people like them. Since I'm not a scientist, the best I can do is help to pay the people who can do the research.
While I've met my target, there can never be too much. This donation page will stay open for a few more weeks. So, if you haven't done so already, please dig deep and donate now.
Thank you, from me, from Epilepsy Society and from the people who will receive additional care and support as a result.
