Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
UPDATE . I have put a target of £3000 but this is not a limit- So many children need your help-
Page UPDATED: 27/04/2007
I have been asked about future missions- The first two were mainly financed by myself and without major sponsors, I personally cannot afford to put a third mission in place. My search for help continues and I speak and ask in the hope that I may find sufficient support to assemble the necessary finance to put a third mission under way. If you are able and willing to help, please get in touch by email.
Thank you

September 2006
I have returned in one piece from this very very long drive. Now I know why all the books say not to travel in july and August! ouch- the heat- the rains and so much more but what a result. Everything survived the journey after I wisely packed everything in plastic crates and sealed them in readyness for the rains and water enterign the cargo area- well, when I say water....torrents of muddy brown stuff is more accurate!! and all was delivered into the hands of Moussa Thiemoko Coulibali- Village Director- So much was the cargo that it was shared between the two SOS Villages; one in Mopti and the other on the outskirts of Bamako thereby reaching some 264 orphans.
A HUGE thanks to all those of you who have contributed either items or funds to enable the 'wish list' from the village to be serviced.
Returning to Mopti - JULY 2006 by Toyota Hilux
Some of you may know that I am driving (literally!) a 'hands-on' project which is separate from the donations made to SOS through this site. Donations made here have the extra benefit from the tax break!.
I am driving a full load of 1.2 tons of Aid now towards the orphanage in Mopti, Mali
It might just be a bit hotter and wetter (monsoon season) this time though!.
Fingers crossed that the Toyota and I are up to it! Thank you for helping. I mean this from the bottom of my heart- & I can't wait to see those wonderful children again as well as those who work so hard daily to look after them. If you or anyone you know is in the position to and willing to help, please get in touch with me by email to bertsosmali@yahoo.co.uk

UPDATE: I have returned to the UK Friday 10th February 2006. Despite a hard journey, 8 crashes, crossing flooded 'oueds' etc etc & made more uncomfortable by the 'disappearance' of my tent which made for many 'interesting' nights under the stars! good job I enjoy the Great Outdoors- it doesn't get much 'greater' than Africa!!

UPDATE :Today is the 30th January 2006 and I am glad to report that despite 8 crashes & a few mishaps, the journey is almost complete. The medicines were delivered to Mr Coulibally some 2 weeks ago. I am now on the way back towards the UK.

I shall be leaving December' 18th'05 by BMW F650GS Dakar motorcycle overland from Bromley in Kent (UK) to Mali.(I am self-funded and ask nothing for myself).
I am already carrying 42 treatments of Malarone for Malaria but I am limited to what I can transport as I have to cross the Western Sahara desert. You can help me by one (well a few !) clicks of your mouse driven by your good heart and make your donation by using this site.
It is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: SOS Children's Villages will receive your money faster, directly and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. We all need to be accepted, to love and be loved and have a helping hand. These children need your generosity, pure and simple. Please help support SOS Children's Villages dedicated to delivering help 'on the ground'. http://www.soschildrensvillages.org.uk/aids-africa/children-aids-africa.htm Please click on the 'Donate Now' button and from those small and far away voices seldom heard, on their behalf, allow me to say a big 'THANK YOU' for whatever help you can give. If you make your email address available to me and let me know if you would like me to send you updates/photographs I shall be glad to do so.
