Story

Thank you for visiting our fundraising page.

BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha in Leicester has organised a 500-mile sponsored Cycle Challenge on Saturday 30 August 2008 at St Margaret's Pastures.

This is a two-fold campaign to propel health and fitness awareness within the young Asian community and raise funds towards sports equipment and recreational activities for the new Mandir & cultural complex. The young women of BAPS, all aged between 14 and 23, aim to collectively cycle 500 miles to raise funds.

Supporting the event is CTC, the UK's National Cyclists' Organisation, established since 1878. The organisation has kindly donated bicycles, helmets, mile counters and a great deal of advice and support to this event and the BAPS organisation.

The day of the cycle challenge will have a strong focus on health awareness; this will include stalls from charities such as Diabetes , The British Heart Foundation and Breast Cancer, and Asthma UK.

For this year’s Annual Family Walk & Fun Run, BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha is partnering with The Anthony Nolan Trust. The fund raised will support BAPS’s work in holding conventions promoting moral and family values, anti-addiction and interfaith harmony and in-house health awareness programmes to promote a healthy lifestyle. The Anthony Nolan Trust will use funds generated to help take back lives from leukaemia by managing donors, and recruiting new ones to the UK’s most successful bone marrow register.
