As you will be aware I have been riding for a long time and I am very passionate about horse riding. Looking after my horses has become such a part of life that i'd be lost without it. Although my horses and other animals are well looked after I know there are some that are not. And thats where the Blue Cross come in. 

The Blue Cross provides practical support, information and advice for pet and horse owners. Through a network of animal adoption centres the Blue Cross rehome thousands of animals each year. Blue Cross hospitals provide veterinary care for the pets of people who cannot afford private vets’ fees.

To help support the Blue Cross I will be taking part in the Blue Cross Peruvian Horse Trek (sept 2010), lasting for 5 days in the mountains of Peru. With a distance to cover of 135km at altitudes of upto 8000ft over rough terrain this will be one of the biggest challenges I will ever take on. Add to this our night time accommodation will consist of a tent with no luxuries such as heating (wow it will be cold) and you would be forgiven for thinking I am mad. Well I'm not during our journey as well as horse riding the huge distance at great height and enduring temperature rise and falls like not many places I know of, I will be able to visit Inca ruins during the journey, ride amoungst Llamas and Alpacas through the forests and mountain passes of a stunning backdrop that is peru.
