Antony & Branson Shakespeare Way Walk · 16 March 2009

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People trains dogs to alert deaf people to important and life-saving sounds such as the smoke alarm, alarm clock, intruder alarms and baby monitors. These amazing dogs also help deaf people to leave loneliness behind by providing love, companionship and emotional support.

Story

Thanks for visiting Antony & Branson's fundraising page.

My deaf father, Antony Sabin aged 86, completed on Saturday 8th August the146-mile Shakespeare's Way Walk from Stratford-upon-Avon to London's Globe Theatre in honour of his now-retired hearing dog, Branson (www.hearingdogs.org.uk).  The walk took Antony three weeks averaging 7 miles per day.  Branson, who now has bad arthritis, was unable to do the whole walk and made special guest appearances.

Patrick Stewart, the highly respected Shakespeare actor, supported the walk and helped get the Royal Shakespeare Company involved. On the final day, after a send off by Patrick, Antony and Branson arrived to a fantastic reception on stage at the Globe Theatre following a matinee of Romeo & Juliet . It was the end of their  fourth sponsored walk. In the last seven years, Antony & Branson have kept themselves busy (and numerous others too!) planning their sponsored walks and keeping fit.  In their three previous walks, they have walked nearly 500 miles raising over £35,000 and have been able to sponsor seven dogs for seven other deaf people.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Hearing Dogs For Deaf People gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor Antony & Branson now!
