Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited desease.
Cystic Fibrosis affects over 8 000 people in the UK.
Over 2 million people in the UK carry the faulty gene that causes Cystic Fibrosis - around 1 in 25 of the population.
If 2 carriers have a child, the baby has a 1 in 4 chance of having Cystic Fibrosis.
Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, by clogging them with thick sticky mucus. This makes it hard to breath and digest food.
Each week, 5 babies are born with Cystic Fibrosis.
Each week, 3 young lives are lost to Cystic Fibrosis.
Since 1982, when I first did babysitting for my sister, I have looked after my niece Alice. She was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis when she was 18 months old and suffered a young life of breathlessness and pain. Growing up she was a piano player and mathematician but nothing could stop CF, and at the age of 22 she was reduced to living on an oxygen mask all day, and hope was running out. She was not only lucky but blessed to be given donor lungs in a transplant operation on the 22 January 2008, and has a new lease of life. This lease is not a freehold, as she still has CF and will always live with the consequences.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Cystic Fibrosis Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
Thanks
