On Tuesday 29th April 2014, the anniversary of our dad's death, my brother Malcolm went to watch Charlton play at The Valley.
At 8.20pm my niece called to tell me her dad , my brother, had suffered a massive heart attack during the match
Malcolm had in fact suffered a cardiac arrest.
Thankfully an off duty fireman, Ryland , was sitting behind him. He jumped over the seats and gave CPR.
Ryland saved Malcolm's life that night. His heart stopped 3 times.
After initially being taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital he was transferred that evening to St. Thomas'.
Malcolm spent 8 long weeks in intensive care and at times we thought we may loose him.
Thankfully , because of Ryland and the dedication of the medics at St. Thomas' we are celebrating the 3rd anniversary of his miraculous recovery.
We thank God for his life every day.
With the support of my lovely work colleagues I am raising funds for the Coronary Care Unit at Guys and St. Thomas' Hospital.
On 30th April we are doing a sponsored walk from Eltham to The Valley and back. Hoping to raise some funds on route and from the wonderful supporters going to the last home match of the season.
Please will you make a donation, no matter how small, to help others that may find themselves in the same situation as my wonderful brother.
Thankyou for supporting this amazing cause.
