I have been working as a nurse looking after people with Alzheimers for the past 15 years now and have always wanted to do something worthwhile in raising funds for the Alzheimers Society.

A couple of weeks ago I came across an advert in the weightwatchers magazine and became interested as the trek takes place around the time of my 40th birthday and when I realised what the funds would be for I just had to do it!!!

I am doing this as a personal challenge, one which a year ago I would never have dreamed of, but having lost 10 stone in weight through weightwatchers I now feel I am ready to take up the challenge which the funds raised will be used to support the carers of people with Alzheimers and in helping to find a cure.

I know many families have been affected at one time or another having cared for or known someone suffering from Alzheimers and it is a cause that is very close to many of our hearts..
