Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In June 2013 I'm taking part in the Gobi March which is a 250km ultramarathon across the Gobi Desert comprising of 6 stages over 7 days. During the course of this race I'll complete 6 marathon distances including stage 5 which is estimated at 50 miles with a maximum altitude of 2800m. If that wasn't enough I'll also be carrying my own clothing, bedding and food with me for the race (but fortunately not my own water).
I've never run a marathon before let alone an ultramarathon and have already clocked up nearly 1000km in training since the start of December. I have no idea how I'll react to the extreme temperature changes, the fatigue, the snakes and scorpions or the high winds I'm likely to encounter. Just that this is the physically hardest thing I've ever attempted in my life.
I'm entering the race with my neighbour and friend - Alex Zulewski who is raising money for the MS Society. You can follow my own personal journey on Google+ and our combined journey on facebook. During the race I may find time to update my race blog. Either way you can follow progress on the 4deserts website.
