Palace to Palace 2017 · 1 October 2017 ·
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The miles are now in for 2017, I rode a total of 5,678 miles with 391 hours in the saddle spread across 226 riding days, climbing 227,157ft (climbing mount Everest 7.8 times). Thank you all once again for your generous support.
I completed the Palace to Palace cycle ride as part of Team Daisy sponsored by my employer Gamma Telecom. I rode 150 miles over the weekend, completing 37 on Saturday and 113 miles on Sunday including the 90 mile Ultra Palace to Palace. This is part of a bigger personal objective for me, that is to ride 5,200 miles in the calendar year. I am making good progress having now clocked up over 4450 miles (3 October) through commuting, riding with others, solo rides and sportives including the Magnificat black edition in July when I cycled a total of 138 miles in one day and climbed over 9000 feet.
My rides with others have include many local bike shop rides, rides with Gamma Colleagues and rides with my son 10 year old son Josh. These rides and my solo rides take me out into the stunning West Berkshire countryside and beyond. My cycling this year has included rides in Snowdonia, Northumberland, the Scottish Boarders and Highlands.
My Plan for the Palace to Palace weekend was to cycle from Thatcham to Windsor on Saturday 30th September (bike loaded with panniers) before taking a coach into London. Then on Sunday 1st October, I rode the Palace to Palace 90 mile ultra route with Team Daisy from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Racecourse before picking up the panniers and cycling back to Thatcham (I rode 23 miles back towards Thatcham when I punctured, and changed the inner tube twice before phoning for a lift, damn nearly bullet proof tyres), so only 113 miles on Sunday!
