Andrew was a happy, outgoing boy who loved his life, his family and his friends. He was always joking and laughing and loved playing all kinds of sports, especially football, golf, tennis and swimming, he was also a very enthusiastic drummer.
In August 2005 Andrew was diagnosed with a grade 4 PNET – a very rare and aggressive brain tumour. Weeks of radiotherapy and chemotherapy followed although nothing seemed to work and Andrew suffered more headaches and seizures. Andrew underwent a total of five major operations but each time the tumour returned. In August 2006 we were told that no more could be done for Andrew and he was sent home.
Andrew faced his illness with immense courage and bravery and had such a positive outlook on life. He was always smiling, joking and laughing.
Andrew died surrounded by us all in the early hours of Sunday morning on 12th November, one month before his 14th birthday. He has left us with so many wonderful memories of such happy times spent together, he was so special and we will remember him forever.
We are now trying to raise money in Andrew’s memory to help raise awareness and fund research into brain tumours, to give hope to other families whose lives are affected by this devastating disease.
