Story
Is he mad?
As many of you know, I'm planning to cycle from London to Paris at the end of May, 2009. I freely admit that the idea fills me with a mixture of excitement and apprehension!
So why am I doing it?
The ride is raising money for Kisima Secondary School in Kenya, a fantastic place that I was privileged to visit in 2007, and which provides free education for 160 boys and girls from the most incredibly deprived backgrounds from villages all over the desert region of Northern Kenya. On my last visit we saw many of the villages that the children come from, and they were some of the most barren places I had ever seen. We saw the literally life-transforming work that the School is doing, and also the ongoing need: Due to the current drought in Kenya water is rationed at present and while we have so much, it is humbling to see others surviving on so little.
