Story
Just thought some of you would like to know the progress with Ana updated on the Quest 4 Change website recently:
"5 year old Ana Mariela started the long process of consultations and treatment for her tumour back in March, but the operation date has finally been set, for ... early January. This is so that they are in the warm summer weather in case her recovery has any complications, but also to make sure she doesn't miss any school (she is one of the children receiving free education at the Quest school). There are two operations she will be receiving. The first is to kill the tumourous cells and prevent any more growth of the disfiguration. Following that, she will have a second operation to remove the disfiguring cells already there, and all being well that will be that! So once again, thanks to everyone who helped make this treatment possible, and everyone please let's keep our fingers crossed come January."
In the UK if you are ill, you see a doctor for free. Something we take for granted.
Here in Villa Maria del Triunfo, Peru (the largest Shanty Town in South America) it is a very different story. With no NHS like service, the doctors will do nothing without money up front.
Ana Mariela is a 4 year old girl who was born with a malformation vascular vaerioso tumor in her mouth which is now spreading across her face and throat and will soon leave her blind. She needs at least 4 operations to remove the tumor, each costing around 900 US dollars.
Due to health problems her father cannot work therefore her mother has to support the family of five on only 15 soles a week (less than £3). This wouldn't even buy you a drink on a night out.
So on behalf of Ana and her family we are asking you to donate just £2 to give this girl a chance to live. With no money this little girl will die if she does not have sugery.
Our target is £4000 as she will need at least four operations, plus medications and post operative care.
So sponser Ana now.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Quest Overseas Charitable Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
