British 10K London Run 2012 · 8 July 2012 ·
On the 8th July I will be taking part in the London 10k (6.2 miles) Run with Ben & Matt. This event will be in London where you run past many of the country's greatest landmarks including Big Ben, The London Eye, St Paul's Cathedral, Trafalgar Square and Westminster Abbey.
We have secured charity places and will be running for Myleoma UK.
This will be my first distance run for a charity close to my heart.
2011 has been a tough year for me and my family, my step dad Henry was diagnosed with Myeloma.
Myeloma, also known as multiple myeloma, is an increasing common type of bone marrow cancer. It is one of the fastest growing cancers of which there is currently no cure.
You hear the word 'cancer' everywhere and you never think it would ever happen to you or a loved one but when it does everything changes. The tears fall easier & the lump in your throat never seems to disappear. Having to watch a man who has always been so fit and healthy and content with life, change and become ill due to the extensive chemotherapy is heartbreaking.
I am so proud of him and how strong he is being and has never once complained about his condition. I am doing this run to show my support, and that my step dad does not have to face this illness alone.
The money that I raise will being going to Myeloma UK, who receive no government funding and rely almost entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising activities. The donations that they receive funds research into trying to find a cure. Also the cause, prevention, improved and safer treatments and a greater understanding of myeloma. Funds raised also enable programmes and services to ensure no one faces myeloma alone.
