Well – here I am again creating a just giving page for my next cycle challenge.

The Women V Cancer Cycle Kenya raised a staggering £1.6 million for Breast Cancer Care, Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust and Ovarian Cancer Action. These charities are dedicated to supporting women, their families and friends affected by cancer.  They are committed to saving lives by raising symptom awareness amongst women and GP’s and campaigning for excellence in cancer treatment and prevention, as well as funding research.

I returned from Cycle Kenya feeling very humbled and extremely lucky to have water on tap in my home and electricity/gas. I was also amazed that I had actually managed to cycle 400kms across the Rift Valley. It wasn’t easy – tarmac full of large potholes, very hilly and temperatures in the mid 30s.  It was an emotional journey, a lot of the women cyclists were themselves cancer survivors and incredibly inspirational.

Upon return I found myself waking each morning wondering whether I should take up another cycle challenge. It didn’t take too long to decide … so I signed up to Cycle 400 km over 5 days across Cuba. It is a fantastic challenge for incredibly worthy causes and it makes me keep fit at the same time (and I do need an incentive for this!!). As well as raising funds for Women V Cancer’s 3 charities we will also be making a donation to support cancer care in Cuba.

After a brief interlude of indolence I am now back in the saddle and cavorting around keep fit classes at the gym!!

I am raising my own funds for any costs involved so any sponsorship or donations go directly to the charities.
