Cambridge to Roque 2013

My father, Peter Bunclark, died in 2008 from Motor Neurone Disease; a horrendous wasting disease which nobody should have to live through. It is little understood, and funding is badly needed to help pursue research, and also ease the pain for families living with the disease. As such, my raised funds shall be divided equally between the National Office and Cambridgeshire Branch of the MND Association.
In 2009, my good friend Ben Johnson and I ran in the Loch Ness Marathon to raise money for the MND Association. We raised an amazing £1,112. It was painfully acquired in what was my first (and problably last!) ever marathon, but four years on I felt that it was once again time to put myself through agony for MND.
As a tribute to my Dad, I will be cycling the commute from one of his previous places of work to another; from the Insitutute of Astronomy in Cambridge, to the Observatory at Roque de los Muchachos in La Palma.
Leaving on August 24th, this will involve a 3 week, 1200km cycle across southern England, coast-to-coast across Spain, and then a ferry to La Palma in the Canary Islands. If I make it this far, then I will be faced with the prospect of cycling up the gruelling 26 mile, 7% gradient road from Santa Cruz to the summit at 7,949ft.
Your donations are what will motivate me in what will surely be a mighty challenge, so please forgo a night of drinking, pass up on the restaurant for dinner, put that new pair of jeans out of your mind and donate generously.
Thankyou!
