Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I have just completed a 3-month course in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene to help equip me for volunteering abroad with VSO for a year from June 2009. I have been accepted as a volunteer in Kampala, Uganda, where my remit will be to help develop a training programme for the local healthcare staff manning the upcountry clinics. In so doing, I hope to be able to contribute towards some sustainable and positive changes in the healthcare system where needed.

I feel strongly that I would like to help redress the balance between the health we enjoy in the UK and that in the developing world, by giving my time and services in an underprivileged community.

I am taking my husband, Alan and our 3 children, Amy, Zoe and Bella with me. If you would like to follow our adventure we will be writing a blog at http://thecowansinkampala.blogspot.com/

So please sponsor me now and all the funds will go to support similar projects VSO are running around the world.
