In April Will and I are going to hitch-hike to Morocco to raise money for a charity called LCD (Link Community development) that does work in Africa to provide basic education for the children there.
I'm not too good at demagogy so I'll make this bit quick.
Anything you can give will make a huge difference. I know most of you are students and the cash isn't exactly flowing, but even a small amount can have a profound effect. So take a tenner out of your wallet, donate 5 then go have a pint and packet of crisps and feel good about yourself for making a genuine difference to someone's life.
As an example of how a little can become a lot I'll quote the little pamphlet I've got about how much certain things cost:
£10 buys ten reading books.
£20 pays for a teacher to learn how to effectively teach about HIV/AIDS.
£30 pays for a teacher to receive proper literacy training. One teacher who can teach well equals several dozen students who can learn well.
Every penny donated goes directly to where it's needed. Will and I will take nothing and even the dirty evil dictators are kept off it.
And about this website:
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor: Link Community Development gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
Thanks a lot for reading and thanks even more for donating. Enjoy the pint, you earned it.
