Yay!!!! time for another cycle challenge
The piccie on this page shows me in Ecuador on a very wet day.
This time I have to raise £3,300. Please give generously.

Here's what we are doing (Note: I've done these before and basically the shorter the distance the harder the cycle.

Day 1: London-Panama City (Panama)
Leave London bound for Panama City
Day 2: Panama City-La Fortuna Forest Reserve
After a detailed briefing, we head to the Panama Canal and visit the great lock at Miraflores. From here, we drive to the Fortuna Forest Reserve, through rainforest and banana plantations, and finally up into the mountains. We prepare camp at the foot of Volcano Baru, an extinct volcano soaring to 3475m, and get ready for tomorrow's ride.
Approx drive distance: 6-7 hours
Day 3: La Fortuna Forest Reserve-Almirante
After all the excitement of traveling through Panama, it's great to start pedaling! Our start point has spectacular views of the Caribbean Sea, and it's not long before we're descending through dense primary rainforest towards the coast. We continue on our hot and humid route to our rough camp just south of Almirante.
Approx cycling distance: 85km
Day 4: Almirante-Cahuita (Costa Rica)
After our first night camping, listening to all the jungle sounds, we set off early and head towards Costa Rica. We continue along the coast to Almirante, tackling several hills on the way to the border. After passing through Panama's border controls, we continue our ride through small villages and tropical farmland. The final part of today's ride takes us to our campsite on the Caribbean Sea in Cahuita. Here you'll be able to cool off with a swim before nightfall.
Approx cycling distance: 102km
Day 5: Cahuita-Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui
The first section of our challenge today takes us along the flat coastal road to Lemon. We'll pass palm trees and beaches, interspersed with villages and dense jungle. On the outskirts of the town we load up into vehicles and drive a very busy section of highway. After lunch we unload and it's back on the road for our 30km ride towards camp. This road has stunning views of forestclad mountains and amazing primary rainforest full of Costa Rican bird-life.
Approx cycling distance: 75km
Day 6: Puerto Viejo de Sarapiqui-La Fortuna
Our aim today is to reach the Volcano Arenal: an active volcano on the edge of La Fortuna town. After a flattish start along the banks of the Rio Sarapiqui, it's not long before we reach a steep, long climb that takes us to San Miguel, which stands at 550m. This tough day continues along the undulating foothills of the volcanic mountains and we camp on the edge of town with a view of the glowing volcano from our tents.
Approx cycling distance: 100km
Day 7: La Fortuna-Ranch Camp
This morning starts with a long, rewarding climb to Lago de Arenal. The climb takes us through jungle, with several steep sections up to the lake. From here we head into cattle country, where ranches are scattered all over the hillsides. It is in this beautiful backdrop that we make camp in a secluded spot.
Approx cycling distance: 82km
Day 8: Ranch Camp-Santa Cecilia
Today starts off on rough roads, but it's not long before we are descending on smooth roads once more, as we pass through traditional villages and lowland jungle. Today we are treated to our first magnificent views of the Pacific Ocean and Lake Nicaragua, although there are two days of cycling to go, we make camp knowing that our final destination is not far away.
Approx cycling distance: 85km
Day 9: Santa Cecilia-La Virgen (Nicaragua)
This morning we head for the Pan American Highway and towards the Nicaraguan border. After we cross the border, we continue for around 25km to our campsite on the edge of Lake Nicaragua. In front of us, we have magnificent views of volcanoes Concepcion and Maderas. Our camp may even be complemented by a clear early-morning view of the volcanoes.
Approx cycling distance: 75km
Day 10: La Virgen-Granada
Our final day's cycling sees us head for Granada, reputably the most beautiful city in Central America. Wonderful churches, museums and town squares greet us at our finish line; from here we revel in our huge achievement of cycling three countries in eight days with our celebration dinner.
Approx distance: 75km
Day 11: Free day
Today is free to explore Granada.
