On August 29th my Daddy, Peter, died after a two year battle against Prostate Cancer.
In its advanced stages, the cancer caused Dad immense pain and made walking difficult- impossibly cruel for a man who ran his 15th marathon in 2006.
Dad was in and out of hospices and care centres for the last 6 months of his life. The level of care and compassion they have shown for him and for us has been amazing. The Marie Cure Care Centre in Belsize park arranged all his tests, drugs and blood transfusions so that Dad could be out in time to make it to my Graduation in June, and supported him in his furious determination to attend his last ever bridge tournament in Brighton 2 weeks before his death. Dad died in a hospice- out of pain, finally, and with Mum, Christof and me by his side.
Please support me as I follow in Dad's runnning shoes in my 1st marathon to raise all I can for Marie Curie Cancer Care and others like us that they can help.
(13/01/10- A note from my fundraising contact, Donna, at Marie Curie: "I have just seen your justgiving page and I am totally blown
away at how much you have raised to date! It is just a fantastic amount and
really will make such a difference here at the Hospice" )
