** UPDATE **

On saturday 14th July I managed to complete the Icelandic Ultra Marathon in what was by far and away the toughest achievement in my life so far. The support from all the donators and the overall cause dragged me through sections of the mountains where I was seeking the extra yard of motivation. I have been humbled by the support of everyone and a simple thank you alone doesn't seem enough, but it is meant from the bottom of my heart! Some pictures are on:

This will be updated the more I recover :)

Up until 12 months a go I didn't know a great deal about Myeloma until my Dad was diagnosed with this awful disease. It's one of those things that I had heard about but never fully understood. Myeloma UK is the only charity in the United Kingdom that solely deals with this form of cancer.

Their strategy is to take an integrated approach to systematically address the critical barriers and challenges that are preventing and slowing down myeloma research and the development of, and access to, new treatments, optimal care, information and support. As a charity they receive no government funding and rely almost entirely on voluntary donations and fundraising activities; so any support given goes a long way toward what they are trying to achieve.

My aim is simple but getting there might be a whole lot more challenging! I am running the Icelandic Ultra-Marathon on Saturday 14th July with a view to raising as much as possible for Myeloma UK. The race is a 55km mountain race (34.5 miles) set in the mountains above Reykjavik. The race is a mixture of harsh weather conditions and brutal terrain as you cross over sand, gravel, grass, snow, ice, rivers and streams, a course which usually takes Hikers 4 days to complete.
