About my charity : Shooting Star Children's Hospice Shooting Star Children's Hospice
The Shooting Star Children's Hospice is a very special place, a home from home for families who find themselves in truly unimaginable circumstances. Our Care Team are privileged to provide specialist care and support - sharing the good days, being there every step of the way through the more difficult times. The care is family-centred, focusing on the individual needs of the child, or young person, their parents and siblings. Through the provision of respite, palliative and specialist end of life care, whether in the hospice or in the family's own home, we strive to ensure that quality of life is enhanced for the whole family throughout the course of a child's illness and beyond. Every year we must raise £3 million and with no long-term statutory funding, we rely on voluntary donations

My personal message:

Participation in this www.jesterinfo.org/thejesterazoreschallenge08.html is a project I have been working on for nearly two years, and is one of the early stages of what has become a life aim of sailing around the world, single-handed, non-stop in less than 313 days (the time taken by Sir Robin Knox Johnston in 1969 - the first man ever to do so - www.sailing.org/690.php ).

Twickenham Operatic Society ("TOPS") (www.twickenhamoperatics.com) has had the misfortune to have become re-aquainted with me after several years, and "TOPS" has also recently joined forces with The Shooting Star Trust (www.shootingstar.org.uk) to raise awareness of the Trust within the community, and to hopefully provide some entertinment for the children and their families. The Shooting Start Trust is a truly amazing organisation and relies completely upon charitable donations to look after children with time-limiting conditions and their families.  Their philosophy of "Enhancing quality of life, when every moment counts" pretty much says it all.  Please, please give generously.

Safety is of prime importance in offshore sailing and therefore donations should be made on the understanding that participation, and not necessarily completion is the target.  A storm in the 2006 event dictated that only 2 of the 12 entrants completed the event, although all participants reached ports of safety.

Thank you very much for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Shooting Star Children's Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
