Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This where I'm hoping to raise as much support as possible for the International Glaucoma Association (IGA)
My inspiration for doing this is my maternal grandmother who is 96 years old and has been in poor health for the past few months. At the end of last year, she suffered a stroke and spent close to two weeks in hospital. She is currently recuperating at home but is very weak.
The two things I will always associate with my grandmother are her thick-rimmed glasses and her smiling and cheerful face. Despite suffering from cataracts and poor eyesight for a long time, her enthusiasm for life has been undimmed. So even as she takes her first tentative steps towards a full recovery, I'd like to do this run in honour of everything she has done for me.
Also, a few years ago, my mother was diagnosed with glaucoma and has to use eye-drops for the rest of the life which means I'm at risk of it myself. It is for these reasons I am supporting the IGA, a charity that provides crucial support for patients as well as funding research into a cure.
Having taken the time to visit this page, I hope you will take a few more moments to:
1) Make a donation. Even a small amount will make a difference.
2) Forward this page to any friends who might consider donating.
Thank you so much for doing either one or both of the above. You can follow my progress on either this page or my blog (ajaytj.blogspot.com); I will post updates as often as I can.
Very many thanks again for your support.
Ajay
