Story
Well my story where do I start. When I first received the email regarding this challenge didn’t really give it a thought but the more I checked my emails the more I thought, why not. I love having a new challenge and this was just perfect to push me to my absolute limits! And boy is it doing that. I’m up at half past five every morning to start training. I’m also trying to be good regarding my diet! But what can I say I love food!! (who doesn’t) To push myself even more I have joined a canoe club! It is probably the hardest thing I’ve done, I was the only adult there and the pool was filled with children. Put it this way, they did it to perfection and I’m there crashing into them! It brought a smile to my face and probably half the parents sat watching.
So I have many activities planned to raise money, one, which is the adventure race will be in the usual 5k and 10k formats, a trail and mud run with over sixty challenging obstacles in the full race distance. I can expect to encounter mud, water, tunnels, monkey bars, fire, giant walls, cargo nets, balance beams, hurdles, Jacobs ladders, tightropes and the assault course. It doesn’t stop there, I baked over 100 cup cakes and sold them in our Head Office, they went down a treat. I have many other activities to complete throughout the coming months.
I choose to raise money for Cancer Research UK because it needs our support, we must stop this cruel disease and all the money goes into researching cures for over 200 types of cancer.
They receive no government funding for their research so the life-saving work relies on the money we raise. Thanks to supporters like you we have saved millions of lives by discovering new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer. Over the past century, our scientists, doctors and nurses have made consistent progress in the fight against cancer, and survival rates have doubled over the past 40 years. But we can’t stop there.
By supporting me and many others, you help our scientists get closer to finding a cure. Giving as little £1.00 could fund something as big as a new Research Centre or as small as glass slides to analyze cancer cells. So to end my story, I want to thank every single one of you who has donated so far. You wouldn’t believe the difference you have made, and thank you for supporting me in this great adventure.
