An update after 'library day'
Hi everyone, thanks so much for all your kind donations, they have really helped us to build a wonderful library for the children. Please see the attached photos to see exactly what we achieved with the aid of your kind donations and a lot of hard work in just one day! The library is already being used and at the beginning of next term the school plans to get it up and running properly and used to its full potential. Without input from a huge number of people this would never have been possible, so thank you to everyone.
We plan to keep the Just giving page open in order to raise more funds for more books- there is still a lot of space to fill and we still need to reach the ratio of 3 books to every student. With 1800 students, that's nearly 5500 books!
We also hope to use the library space to run after school classes to encourage dance, art and science so we are still asking for any donations people are able to make in order to buy equipment to help us with these aims. This space is just the beginning of a number of ideas and plans and it really will make a huge difference to the children of ACJ to be able to access a space where they can be introduced to so many new stimuli.
I will keep you updated with the progress. Thanks again.

In Nomzamo, Cape Town, GVI works with ACJ Pakade primary school, a school with over 1800 students. Currently, the school has a library space that has empty bookshelves and empty storage rooms. We are aiming to collect second hand donated books and resources so that this room can be an area of imagination, creativity and education- a fully functional library for the students to use to enrich their learning.
As well as books that the local community have been kindly donating, we will need to purchase educational books and resources such as a computer, cd roms etc.
If you are able to, any donations for the book and resources fund for this library would be much appreciated and highly valued by the students and staff alike.
On the 18th September, GVI plans to work with the school and members of the community to put the books into place and get the library up and running.

Thanks again for your time and interest.
