Story

"I thought I would have to teach my daughter about the world. It turns out I have to teach the world about my daughter". Unknown

"You have to play the ball where it lies" Bobby Jones.

"Always remember, you are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think" AA Milne.

"Rett Syndrome is when you form, something is different. It means that when you grow up you will not be able to walk or talk. Our little sister Abby has this. But we still love her like mad!" Sophie Pike (8).

Rett Syndrome is a neurodevelopmental disorder that affects mostly girls. After a period of apparently normal growth and development girls stop developing and then regress. Most girls do not speak, can not walk, lose purposeful use of their hands and many suffer scoliosis, seizures, cardiac problems, breathing issues, anxiety and disrupted sleep patterns.

Abby is a beautiful 3 year old girl living in Australia. Abby has a mum, Anna and a dad, Matt. She also has two older siblings, Sophie, eight and Sam, seven. Abby is a typical three year old who enjoys music, toys, television and seeing her friends. Abby is very busy with activities including conductive education, hydrotherapy, physio, speech and OT. Abby has a stander at home, will soon have a walker and just adores her swing. Abby is a happy little girl who is adored by all who know her.

Graham is Abbys Poppy. He also lives in Australia with Abbys Nanna, Jane but both herald from the UK. Both Graham and Jane adore Abby and are a great support to the whole family.

Graham is going to walk the UK Coast to Coast in September to raise awareness about Rett Syndrome and funds for Reverse Rett UK. You can help Graham by supporting him on his walk and sharing this site with others.

"Support today. Hope for tomorrow". Please dig deep. Abby is trapped. Give her a voice. Rett Syndrome has been reversed in mice! Let's give these girls a fighting chance at life.
