Story
Bonjour! (better get the practice in)...
In June 2014, I'll be cycling 400 miles to Paris from the University of Leeds Parkinson Steps, all the way to the Eiffel Tower. You're probably thinking why don't you just get a plane or a train? Yes I could do that, but for someone that has never been to Paris I look forward to saying that I cycled to get there and completed the challenge! Not only will I succeed in accomplishing this challenge, I'm doing it for a really good cause.
I am doing this with the Student Union's fundraising body- Leeds RAG, there are around 50 of us going, each raising a minimum of £350, which will equal to an incredible £17,500 and that's just individual fundraising, I cannot imagine how much we will raise with group fundraising events too!
We are doing this challenge to raise money for Save the Children a charity who work in 120 countries by promoting childrens rights, child poverty and hunger. Not only do they work in the poorest of countries, they also do amazing work in the UK by helping families to improve their children's development. They provide households with essentials such as a family cooker, educational books and toys for those living in severe poverty.
Thank you for taking the time to visit my page and I would really appreciate if you were to consider donating! Please remember to click on the Gift Aid button; "Gift Aid is a UK tax incentive that enables tax-effective giving by individuals to charities in the United Kingdom" - jargon aside it means that on top of whatever you donate to me the government will giftaid some extra money! So for example if you were to give me £5.00 the government will give an extra £1.25! Pennies make the pounds and all that! Thank you again! Wish me luck!!
