Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to help raise funds for VSO (Voluntary Service Overseas).
At the beginning of next year I will be volunteering with the VSO programme, working in the Philippines in partnership with the Gualandi Volunteer Service Programme (www.gualandivolunteers.org). Our project 'Disability- Deaf Inclusion and Awareness' aims to improve the lives of Deaf persons. This is by improving their access to basic services, advocating equal educational and employment opportunities and contributing to the the acceptance and participation of Deaf persons within their communities.
In order to go I need to raise £800, to show my commitment and dedication to the VSO programme. This money will go directly to the VSO, helping to carry on their great work; fighting poverty and improving the lives of those affected by it. My flights and stay have already been sponsored by the government so you will not be directly funding my trip.
This is not a holiday but a volunteering placement where I and other volunteers will be working tirelessly enhance the lives of Deaf persons. Furthermore the programme will continue even after the placement abroad has finished. My team members and I will carry on raising awareness once we are back in the UK, participating in local community projects and fundraising.
Please donate whatever you can to help and thank you for taking the time to read this!
If you would like to know more/are interested in the VSO ICS programme or project please visit the VSO and GVSP websites. Here is also my personal blog which will detail my experiences and thoughts on the lead up to and during my placement:
