Story

Thank you for visiting my JustGiving Page.

I Have some incredible colleagues/friends who i work with at VOICE, Northampton, who have come together in supporting and joining my decision to raise money for Willen Hospice, Milton Keynes. Friday 18th August 2017 We are throwing our little bodies out of a plane at 15,000 ft to freefall 120-150 mph through the air before a bit of colourful fabric is hopefully released to slow us down to land.

As some of you know, Dad was diagnosed with Melanoma in 2015. Despite many attempts and a bit of positivity, this quickly spread through his body and Dad developed Brain Tumours and our positive hopes were stolen. Dad underwent removal of Lymph nodes, Radiotherapy, Tester of Research Treatment, Immunotherapy, Lymphedema, two injections a day for months, severe cramps, confusion, mood changes, tiredness, partial loss of vision, loss of balance, appetite and more. Dad somehow, through it all, just coped, and carried on.  Like the Pete we all knew he was a strong and proud man.He even took the mick out of himself with his often 'lacey' (pressure) stockings he had to wear, and his 'hot wheels' electric scooter after he could no longer drive or cycle. During the time of Dad being poorly, Willen provided and arranged many supports including steps to help dad into the house, handles and seats for the bathroom, home visits, check up calls, medications, their Lymphedema clinic, pressures leggings and more.

13th March 2017 Willen had arranged for a stair rail to be installed to assist with Dad's balance. Dad used that rail in the afternoon to get upstairs. Dad sadly passed away a very short while after with Mum by his side. Our hearts totally shattered and although we knew that one day he would have to leave us, never did we expect it to be so soon. Our family lost the man of the house, a husband, Dad, brother, Uncle and Pop.

Willen Hospice had a nurse (clinical nurse specialist) at the end of the phone to speak to when needed throughout Dad being poorly. We found this very reassuring as he was being treated away from home at Oxford so we felt we still had support and someone to go to in Milton Keynes. Dad could also have gone along to their weekly wellbeing meetings if he had wanted to and been looked after there residentially if we had not been able to do so at home. Willen Hospice also give family support during bereavement.

Dad may not be so chuffed to hear I'm jumping out a plane, but he would in raising a good amount of money for those who helped him when he needed. So please donate and support me in my ridiculous and spontaneous decision. Every penny counts, and if you’re free, Come and Watch me do something I really don't want to do!

Thank You x
