Story
The National Gardens Scheme is an absolutely brilliant organization made up of almost 4,000 garden owners who each open their gardens at least once every year for charity. They all put in masses of effort preparing their gardens and on the day to make a visit really enjoyable, and raise a colossal amount; last year they donated over £2.7m to some great causes - including Parkinson's UK.
Last year Paul Jackson-Clark cycled around Fifteen gardens in London on NGS's "Festival weekend", and is going one better this year by doing 16. Yorkshire is a bit more spread out so I can only match his total of 15 from last year, but I'll be doing 51 miles in some fairly hilly terrain, so spare a thought for my poor legs eh?
So...if you can spare a few quid for Parkinson's UK please to help me along the way, that would be fantastic. Not only that but you will also be entered into a competition to #win the bike! So how does that work?
After completing the Festival Sixteen, Paul will head
off to Southern France to take on the incredible “Ventoux 3” challenge, which involves cycling up this iconic 1,900m mountain three times in one day. This is an absolutely incredible feat, the difficulty of which cannot be understated. Paul’s unique, purpose-built Brompton Cycle is specially designed for hill climbing, and this is the machine with which he will take on both the “Festival Sixteen” and “Ventoux 3” challenges. The bike has been very kindly donated to Parkinson's UK by Brompton Cycles, and afterwards, the bike will be given to one lucky entrant in a free-to-enter draw – and he’s how you can be in with a chance of winning it!
