Charity challenge finale!

Charity Challenge Finale! · 20 August 2019
Hello!
In September, members of Wolseley UK South Region’s management team are going to climb Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales. We’re doing it to raise as much money as we can for Macmillan Cancer Support. It’s the culmination of months of effort, involving hundreds of colleagues…a ‘baton’ being carried on the climb will already have travelled many miles by the time we reach the starting point, on Thursday, 4 September.
The story so far…
The baton – in actual fact a scrapbook of messages – began its journey in Penzance, on 29 April, and
finished on the other side of the country, in Broadstairs, in June. It travelled via every one of the South Region’s 135 branches, including those in Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Wight. At every stop, each branch fundraised
for its chosen charity. Each created a Wolseley mascot, took a photo of the branch team (with mascot), and included a message of support for the next
branch inside the scrapbook - before carrying the ‘baton’ to the following site as creatively as possible… without a car or company vehicle. It’s been a ride!
Snowdon is the culmination of an entire region’s
efforts. Now it’s the management’s turn…21 colleagues. 42 socks. 1,085 metres. 8 hours. Plenty of blisters. And one great cause…Macmillan Cancer Support.
That’s right. This last leg of the baton’s journey is for Macmillan Cancer Support. It’s going to be carried to the summit of Snowdon by a group not known for their hiking or mountain goat-like ability. For some, this is way outside their comfort zone. It’s high. It’s long. It’s cold at the top. It might even rain a little. But it’ll be worth it. Macmillan Cancer Support provides physical, financial and emotional support to help those with cancer live life as fully as possible. You may not know everyone making the Snowdon climb for Macmillan, but you’ll definitely know someone who has, or has had, cancer.
