Story
This is all in aid of FREEDOM FROM FISTULA. This is an amazing charity that gives emergency care to women in childbirth across Africa. A fistula is a complication from obstructed childbirth that leaves these poor women with large gaps from their bladder or rectum to their birth canal causing them to become incontinent and in constant pain. (and some women live with this for 40 years!!!!)
This issue leaves them exiled from the communities they live in. Their husbands, friends and families abandon them, and they are left completely alone. In the UK, you don't have to think twice about the care you are guaranteed to receive during labour. There are very few complications that occur. In Africa, these women have prolonged week-long labours, have the walk miles and miles to their nearest hospital, still in labour, and 9/10 times the baby dies inside of the mother.
Freedom From Fistula offers these women emergency healthcare during their labour, fixes the fistulas that have been a complication of previous labours and offer these women psychological support for what they have been through. Furthermore, the charity trains these women in basic skills that will enable them to return home and get a job to provide for themselves in the future.
Lastly, please consider donating in the link below, my team and I really believe in this charity (if you can’t tell!), these women deserve to bring up a child safely. Also, please spread the word. This is something that is not commonly known about and this needs to change!!
