We are running the Bath Half Marathon for Olivia, daughter of Simon and Bex, and Will's goddaughter. She is just over a year old and struggling. She was infected with a parasite before she was born, the chances of which are 1:100,000. The parasite caused inflammation in her brain and eyes. As a result of three months of intensive care, three brain operations and a long list of other procedures Olivia has cerebral palsy, epilepsy, blindness and other afflictions. Twenty of us are running the Bath Half Marathon in order to raise money for Helen House, a charity that provides palliative care for terminally ill children and that has agreed to take on Olivia.
