On the 20th April 2012 the unimaginable happened to Josh. His baby brother Jacob passed away from a genetic disease called Leigh's. Leigh's is a type of Mitochondrial Disease. Jacob was just 16 months old.

Mitochondrial disease is a cruel condition that takes away so much from those affected and their families. In the case of Jacob he was like any other little boy until he was 9 months old and then out of the blue he started having seizures that could not be controlled, followed by loosing all of the skills he had learnt including his smile and his giggle. The condition means the batteries in your cells call Mitochondria don't work properly and your cells start to die. In Jacob's case it targeted his brain and in the end the part that told him to breathe stopped working. Mitochondrial Disease is always life limiting and there currently is no cure.

Josh along with other members of his family are determined that they are going to do everything they can do to change that for other families so one day no child will have to die from this disease. They know that they can do this by supporting The Lily Foundation who support families, raise vital awareness and fund research to find that cure.

Joel and Lloyd have decided to join Josh on this challenge for his little brother. They are going to prove they are Tough Enough to take on Tough Mudder  - 12 miles of mud and obstacles that will test their fitness and determination. Its going to be difficult and probably a bit painful but nothing compared to the things Jacob and other children like him have to go through every single day.
