Fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support
Story
Hi,
I've signed up to take part in Ironman UK triathlon on Sunday July 19th 2015.
Ironman consists of the following:
2.4 mile swim
112 mile bike
Marathon (26.2 mile) run to finish it off.
140.6 mile in total.
The time limit to complete Ironman is 17 hours (6am start time and I need to have crossed the finish line by 11pm that evening)
A month before I take on the Full Ironman above I have also signed up to do the Half Ironman distance (70.3) in Staffordshire too on June 14th 2015, this in itself is going to be a big challenge and will hopefully give me some good preparation for a month later when I take on Ironman.
Before I even reach the start line I will have covered thousands of miles on bike, foot and in the pool or lake before then which will take many hundreds of hours of training for me to do so!
I don't usually do any sponsorship or fundraising for events I do or I'd be always shaking a tin for money but this one is so far out of my comfort zone and a challenge that is way bigger than anything I've ever attempted and that will push me to my limits that I thought I should use it to help raise money for such a wonderful charity, Macmillan Cancer Support who, in the year that both my Grandma's lost their battles with cancer, were a huge help to our family.
