After some epic rides to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust, my challenge this year is [slightly] more manageable. I'll be taking part in the Ride London 100 alongside 25,000 other cyclists, completing a course of 100 miles through London on closed roads. Or at least it was manageable until I set myself the goal of completing it in 5 hours... That's an average of 20mph in case anyone was wondering, which is quick. I'll be reliant on a bit of luck to achieve that, but it'd be no fun without a target!
The fact that I can even consider taking on these kinds of challenge is testament to the great work of the CF Trust. I count myself as being extremely lucky, I'm well enough to put myself through tough physical challenges and raise money to help those people that have to struggle every day with CF.
Cystic Fibrosis is the UK's most common life-threatening inherited disease; it affects over 8,000 people in the UK (including my brother Toby and myself). Cystic Fibrosis affects the internal organs, especially the lungs and digestive system, making it hard to breathe and digest food.
Donating through Justgiving is really quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor us: the Cystic Fibrosis Trust gets your money straight away and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
