About me

I am.a pony club mum, who after watching my children have fun, fancied a challenge. Initially meeting up for ‘hacking and social’ my friends and I encouraged each other to try a little training and low- level competition. Myself and Rozanne were booked into a hunter trial at Alconbury and asked April to walk the course with them the day before, during which April was (arm twisted behind her back) ‘persuaded’ to take part! Great fear and fun followed, aided by generous portions of baileys, resulting in three decent clears.

About my equine partner

Trilogy, 15.3hh welsh x Hanoverian dun gelding, rising 8 years old. I’ve owned him just over a year. He was mainly a show horse before I brought, originally bred in Wales and competing successfully in part bred welsh classes. Fed on Allen and Page Veteran Vitality and Power and Performance. Trilogy has 3 stable mates all of which are also fed on Allen and Page feeds. Trilogy is known for his laid-back charm. Together we completed the 100 day horse confidence challenge.

What next?

From surviving this first competition arose a commitment to compete more, but to do this for a good cause. Rozanne introduced the idea of the Wobbleberry challenge, which is
#KICKINGCANCERSBUTT

Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony charity was founded by Hannah Francis in March 2016. Hannah, a hugely talented young event rider, was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a rare form of bone cancer, in May 2015 at the age of just 17 years old. The prognosis was very poor indeed and Hannah subsequently endured many months of painful and debilitating treatment, fighting the disease with extraordinary courage and dignity. Hannah’s sheer determination was plain to see, and she defied all medical opinion, continuing to ride right up until her tragically early passing at only 18 years of age on 1st August 2016.

With this in mind, Hannah founded her charity, Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony, in March 2016 to raise money to fulfil two principal objectives – to fund research into osteosarcoma and to provide equestrian experiences (“Willberry’s Wishes”) to seriously ill people. The charity made strong progress under Hannah’s leadership and has gone from strength to strength since her passing, raising more than £800,000 in its first 18 months. The charity is commencing a significant research programme as Hannah so dearly wished and is granting Willberry’s Wishes to seriously ill people in the hope that these experiences inspire others in the same way as they did Hannah, bringing a little happiness and hope during the darkest of times.

The Wobbleberry Challenge  is a fund raising initiative to raise money for Hannah’s Willberry Wonder Pony Charity.

The “Wobbleberry Challenge” was set up because people were inspired by Hannah’s determination, and wanted to raise money for a fantastic charity, where every penny will make a difference. The Challenge has run for a year so far, raising over £215,000, with over 1,200 people  taking part. .

Having a shared goal like this encouraged myself and my friends to train together at least once a week, doing something fun like cross country schooling. We have been very lucky to find a range of experienced instructors covering all disciplines, in our area and willing to help.us achieve our goal.
We have called ourselves ‘The Wobblebellies’ (no explanation required)
