Vicky's Wobbleberry Challenge 2017 page

Wobbleberry Challenge 2017 · 5 January 2017
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
At the beginning of October 2016 I had a routine MRI scan expecting to be told that I had pulled a muscle and needed some physio. Within hours it was confirmed that I had a rare and very large tumour inside my spinal column and needed to be immobilised immediately to prevent paralysis. 36 hours later I was in surgery to remove that tumour and part of my spine. The NHS teams that looked after me during my month in hospital were amazing as were the physio's and friends that worked tirelessly to get me walking, mobile and independent again.
It was one of those said friends who, having seen the Wobbleberry Challenge, entered me as a way to get the drive and support to bring my horses home. And just as importantly to get me strong enough to ride with autistic children at The Horse Boy Foundation, a charity I have been working closely with for several years.
I was lucky enough to be offered a Wobbleberry waiting list place at the beginning of January, the same day that my physio team told me they believed I could be back on a horse by the end of the month. It seemed like fate that I could face my fear through the Wobbleberry Challenge, and achieve my long held secret dream of completing a BE80 one day event. And what better way is there to do that than while raising money for a bone cancer charity.
There will be huge medical and physiological challenges to overcome on this challenge but I pledge now (Jan 7th) that I will do my very best to achieve the BE80 or as close to it as I am physically able.
