On 6 April 2013 my wonderful daughter Sarah was brutally murdered on a houseboat in Kashmir.  She was just 24 years old and my whole family and her thousands of friends and followers around the world are absolutely devastated.  If you have a few moments please follow the video link below to see how full of life she was.

I am Sarah's 'Pa',  as she would affectionaely call me, and this JustGiving page can be used to make unconditional donations to the Sarah Groves Foundation - full details of which can be found by visiting www.SarahGrovesFoundation.org to which I now devote almost all of my time. 

Sarah's insprations in life came from Children, Art, Fitness and Adventure - she was determined to 'lead a life less ordinary' and this Foundation has been set up to make sure this philosphy applies to as many other people, often deprived people, as possible. 

Funds allocated to Children will provide facilities, experiences and opportunities to young persons under the age of 16 that would 

otherwise be out of their reach financially or from an organisational 

perspective.  In many cases participants will come from deprived 

backgrounds both locally and overseas.

 

Funds allocated to Art will provide educational experiences, opportunities and equipment to young persons under the age of 21 that would similarly be out of their reach. Some of these funds will go towards an art bursary at Sarah’s school in Ascot where she spent 7 very happy and successful years.

 

The above will be funded from income generated from the next two categories - Fitness and Adventure.

 

Under Fitness many one-off individually inspired activities are taking place such as marathons, triathlons etc. However, each year the Foundation will underwrite at least one major Fitness event of its own.  In 2014 this will be a bike ride from Guernsey to Paris and back involving 50 riders plus support staff. 

 

Finally, under Adventure the fund will underwrite at least one major expedition each year.  In 2014 we will be re-tracing Sarah's footsteps to the top of Kilimanjaro which will be a very emotional journey. Future expeditions under consideration are Santiago de Compostella, the Appian Way, the Inca Trail to Machu Piccu and Base Camp Everest in Nepal.

 

As you will see my personal target is to raise £10,000 via this JustGiving page and I want to do this by the end of 2013 if at all possible.  My aim is to make sure Sarah's spirit lives on for many years to come and if you can help, by donating or by participating, thank you very much for helping me to achieve my goals.
