Story
We’ve set ourselves a massive challenge on behalf of Remount, a charity setup to support Armed Forces personnel as they leave the service – and we need your help to make it a success! On the 9th July 2011 a team from VWFS/VWG are embarking on the ’24 Peaks Challenge’ in the Lake District with the aim of raising £10,000.
Think of it like the ‘3 Peaks’ but with 21 extra peaks added in...and in 24 hours! So, 24 peaks in 24 hours. That’s average of one peak per hour (if my GCSE math’s is right) and climbing a height of 13,133ft – that’s nearly half way up Everest! Just so you don’t think we’re picking little hills and calling them ‘Peaks’, we’ll be scaling the highest mountain in England, Scafell Pike, as part of the challenge. So, that’s our challenge, what about you?
Quite simply, we need your support. Preparing for this challenge involves a gruelling training regime and we need some motivation to get through this – and that motivation is the thermometer above. Please be generous and help it along! We need to raise a whopping £10,000 to help some of our heroes return to "civvy street". The people leaving the forces have risked life and limb across the world for us and this money will go towards the cost of a course that helps them adjust to life outside the services. It is an incredible motivation to know we were raising money for such an important, worthwhile and courageous cause. So, please, dig deep and be generous. Any donations will be gratefully received. This site is safe and secure. Oh and make sure you include Gift Aid if you are a UK taxpayer
A big thank you from Team 24 VWFS/VWG UK
