Story
Well, we did it! On the hottest day of the year so far, Karen, Lynn and Diane competed in the Liverpool Triathlon and all acquitted themselves well, all finished their respective races and all had a tremendous sense of achievement at the end of it all. Karen said: "I was glad to finish, it was a challenge which I didn't much enjoy but crossing the finishing line felt fantastic". Lynn said: "The triathlon was a truly amazing experience. One that I’ll reflect on for a very long time...from getting into my wetsuit, setting up the bike in transition, swimming in the Queens and Wapping docks with over 100 other eager swimmers (no jelly fish, assumed they sensibly got out of the way after the 1st wave of swimmers), cycling along The Strand (this part I enjoyed the most), and them finally running up the final stretch and across the finish line in front the arena (or maybe this was the most enjoyable part!)" Diane said: 'I really enjoyed the day - everyone really friendly, fantatic support from the crowds, wealther hot (could have done with being a bit cooler) but all in all a great day!' And Lynn spoke for all of us when she said that the most wonderful part of the whole experience has been the time spent with and the encouraging words shared between the three of us training buddies over these past 3 months.” We have each gained 2 new friends.
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We were supported by our University (Liverpool) to participate in the Liverpool Triathlon on 26 June 2011 and when we started this page, we aimed to raise at least £200 for the Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology. So far, our expectations have been wildly exceeded by the generous contributions of friends and family, so thanks to all of you who have sent us messages of support and a few quid.
Thanks again for all your love and support.
