We educate rural children in Zambia to improve the quality of their lives
Story
Access to medical treatment for the community of TUJATANE can be very difficult to come by. Often even simple ailments such as a nasty cut or a fractured arm, that would normally require basic medical attention, can quickly become more serious. Hospitals and clinics are understaffed and poorly stocked, often requiring the injured patient to purchase any medical supplies necessary from the pharmacy before treatment can begin (from antiseptic, pain killers to needles and thread for stitches).
With help from the Medical fund at Tujatane, students and staff can afford to travel to town, receive treatment and pay for prescriptions that they would otherwise do without. Malaria can be diagnosed before it’s serious, a deep cut can be cleaned and stitched before it gets infected and women can reduce the risks of pregnancy with have scans and basic pre-natal care. Baby Cholwe, pictured above, is the latest member of our Tujatane family. Unfortunately her twin sister died due to a complicated labour and poor resources at the local hospital. Tujatane, Tongabezi Trust School educates Zambian children from the local community, in an area where the availability of quality education is scarce. It has grown from a pre-school of 15 children to a primary school with over 275 pupils, and is completely funded by donations.
